Bringing The Bowery Mission to YOU and answering some of your questions about our “new abnormal”
During this busy holiday season, we wanted to pause and say “thank you!” for standing with The Bowery Mission. You’ve made it possible to keep our Red Doors open so that more New Yorkers facing homelessness, unemployment, hunger and other crises can find critical care. We’ve learned so much in 2020, which is helping us respond now to the increase of COVID-19 in our city and prepare for the difficult colder months ahead.
Since many of you cannot join us in person to volunteer or otherwise witness the miracles that still happen every day here, we wanted to bring The Bowery Mission to YOU, virtually. On Tuesday, December 8, I shared how we continue to care for our neighbors in need throughout our “new abnormal” — lifechanging work that you make possible, and I answered questions about The Bowery Mission and the community we serve. This work is only possible thanks to friends like you who stand with The Bowery Mission.
Topics that were discussed include:
- Our pandemic Thanksgiving services
- The Bowery Mission’s “new abnormal”: How COVID-19 has impacted daily activities
- The current state of homelessness
- What is planned for the holidays
- Story of hope of one of our clients: Claribel
We are all more isolated now than we want to be, yet some are more isolated than others. Some don’t have the family connection right now — through little actions and extra special touches, we want people to feel loved, valued and a part of a family community. Thank you for being part of The Bowery Mission. And stay tuned for my next chat Inside our Red Doors!

Every day, The Bowery Mission serves over a thousand meals to neighbors in need, and any one of these meals can lead to a new life. Your generous compassion will keep our Red Doors open to provide meals and other critical care.
